if you'll allow me to be frank, the past couple of weeks i've had the worst case of anxiety as if the world was pressing me on my back and somehow instead of moving forward i simply froze (insert image of our humble friend atlas here). it came crashing when i returned home from england and it's taken from me a very conscious and specific effort to begin to shrug the weight off and realize whatever it is that's "on" me isn't (as i tell myself repetitively) me.
i don't know if any of you, my dear readers, are feeling remotely what i'm feeling but i've made myself a pact to be a fearless possibilitarian and i hope you will too.
let's write a list of all the things that makes us happy - the simple things: fresh brewed coffee in the morning, a manicure, smelling jasmine flowers on the street - and let's do them. do them daily. let's also write down a list of things that make our hearts feel heavy and learn to move on from them. write a simple solution for these troubles, even if it's something as simple as taking a bubble bath.
in the end, only three things matter: how much you loved, how gently you lived, and how gracefully you let go of things not meant for you.
- buddhist saying

I think we all are ones in the same situation. Good think is, that at the end of every tunnel is a light. You'll get better soon and things will move on.

I sure like the idea of being a possibilitarian. It's so easy to forget to appreciate the little good things in everyday life, so your post was a good reminder.

Anxieties are a big challenge. Sorry that you're feeling this weight on your shoulders. I've met a lot of burned-out power woman who feel so surprised by this sudden moment of 'freeze'. Focus on every single step you're doing and don't overload your to-do-list. One item on your list per day is enough, celebrate when you make it to point No.2. The little things are important, don't forget to get a lot of sunshine and fresh air. Buy yourself a bouquet of flowers.
ReplyDeleteAlso, traveling is very exhausting for one's mind. I travel a lot as well and can relate to you that you felt this way after you returned from England. Make yourself feel at home and within a weeks time your weight will be gone.
