it is not over

i went out to dinner with a good friend tonight (delicious cod, should you be pondering what my dish was). next to us at the bar sat three elderly gentlemen who took quite a liking to us and felt it was their civil duty to expose worldly advice to their humble listeners at hand (ie: my friend and i).
i felt like a young buck behind eager eyes. i might as well been swinging my legs from the chair- seeing as they can never reach the ground and always act like a pendulum on a grandfather clock.
at the end of the night as they were all bidding their farewells, one of them turns to me and says, "with anything that may be going on in your life remember this: it is not over."
i don't know what specific genre of life he was referencing to, or if it was his go-to-line-of-advice but two things are for certain: 1. by no means was this related to anything i had said and 2. by all means it really does fit into anything in life.
it reminded me of this line from the movie "magnolia":
There are stories of coincidence and chance, of intersections and strange things told, and which is which and who only knows? And we generally say, "Well, if that was in a movie, I wouldn't believe it." Someone's so-and-so met someone else's so-and-so and so on. And it is in the humble opinion of this narrator that strange things happen all the time. And so it goes, and so it goes. And the good book says, "We may be through with the past, but the past ain't through with us."
like the law of matter (no things are ever created or destroyed), such is the law of life. we are in a continuum. i can only pray and strive that if this is not over, i shall surely be improved and continuously growing.
life does offer second chances. but for the rare seldom occasions where there is only one chance, may we always be well seasoned and prepared to take it. and take it the right way, to not miss a beat and dance.
