thanksgiving

photos by jonathan morffi

this entire year has been quite the whirlwind. i don't know what it is about even-numbered years (yes, i'm rather suspicious regarding numbers) that always throw me for a loop. as i sat around this year's thanksgiving table in my friend's gorgeous house in brooklyn, i couldn't help but to really and truly feel thankful for all the trials and tribulations this year bestowed upon me. i've learned a great deal about love, truth, about standing true to who i am (self belief), but most importantly about forgiveness. this was the year of forgiveness and resilience.

things didn’t work out because, well, greater things were in the works. it’s so difficult while we’re blind and hurting and don’t know which way is up. but, if you have faith in anything, have faith in the fact that the universe has a beautiful way of straightening things out far better than we ever could. you may not see it today or tomorrow, but you will look back in a few years and be absolutely perplexed and awed by how every little thing added up and brought you somewhere wonderful– or where you always wanted to be. you will be grateful that things didn’t work out the way you once wanted them to.

this has to be one of my favorite outfits and shoots i’ve done in  while. the second that my friend/photographer jen told me to tuck my hair in the jacket (only exposing my front layers), we both knew we were on to something. snagging a pic of this and posting on my instagram fueled an entire dialogue of whether or not I had chopped off my hair.
which led me to wonder... should i chop it off for real?

back to living

the last of my apartment posts takes us back to my living room. i redid this room last summer - going back to the basics, eliminating any clutter, and keeping everything mostly black and grey. this was mostly done by dear friends who intervened in my interior decorating "skills" and definitely brought the room to a modern and chic level.
every time i walk into my apartment now i think to myself: wow, i feel like an adult.
(silly but true)

i'm so excited to have done these series of pictures of my apartment with the one and only nina duncan. although not originally planned, our saturday afternoon was well spent prancing around my humble abode snapping the moments. to me, my apartment has always been a sanctuary and place of rest and retreat. i hope you all enjoy me sharing this intimate space with you.

stay tuned for the up coming posts which will highlight each room with each outfit.

this is the last of my miami posts - and i'd like to think i saved the best for last. my mom's condo right by the water has been such peaceful sanctuary for me. the view overlooking downtown on one side, and the ocean on the other, is absolutely breathtaking. snaps being taken on her balcony provided quite a lovely backdrop.
