let's talk about how spring is poking her glorious head into new york! the simple fact that i don't have to layer a puffer jacket underneath a more fashionable jacket feels glorious. a walk about brooklyn led me to this wall to which i felt inspired. there's something about city graffiti i absolutely love.

it's become somewhat surreal that the second i feel the sunshine and the weather is warmer than 30*f i jump for joy and enthusiastically rip off any coat i may be wearing.

this winter i've thoroughly enjoyed mixing luxury pieces with more down-to-earth basics. i've also been all about menswear (no surprise there). going from work to events/dinners, i've had to be very conscious on how my wardrobe can transition from day to night. this outfit is one that fits both specs.

thanksgiving

this entire year has been quite the whirlwind. i don't know what it is about even-numbered years (yes, i'm rather suspicious regarding numbers) that always throw me for a loop. as i sat around this year's thanksgiving table in my friend's gorgeous house in brooklyn, i couldn't help but to really and truly feel thankful for all the trials and tribulations this year bestowed upon me. i've learned a great deal about love, truth, about standing true to who i am (self belief), but most importantly about forgiveness. this was the year of forgiveness and resilience.

  

things didn’t work out because, well, greater things were in the works. it’s so difficult while we’re blind and hurting and don’t know which way is up. but, if you have faith in anything, have faith in the fact that the universe has a beautiful way of straightening things out far better than we ever could. you may not see it today or tomorrow, but you will look back in a few years and be absolutely perplexed and awed by how every little thing added up and brought you somewhere wonderful– or where you always wanted to be. you will be grateful that things didn’t work out the way you once wanted them to.

this summer i've had such a genuine blast shooting for the blog - here are some my favorite outfits (special thanks to jonathan morffi and jen fairchild - my absolutely wonderful photographers who never seize to amaze me with their impeccable eyes). although the sun is still blazing in los angeles, i'm looking forward to some autumn sweaters and leather jackets.

this summer i've been wrapping my head more times than not, just to add some spice to my otherwise black bikinis (ie: permanent weekend attire). throw on a miansai bracelet and voila... simple and chic.

because i have a fixation for everything black, i've been gradually introducing white on white outfits into my daily routine. mind you, the pristine pieces only last a mere 5 minutes before i accidentally spill coffee / food / cocktails / lipstick. needless to say, shout wipes and i have become best friends.

anyone that knows me, knows i love (and live in )a good button down blouse. it's my absolute go-to piece seeing that most of my outfits have to easily transition from day to night due to my busy work schedule. when i saw this bad boy at uniqlo, it was an immediate buy.

1984 / summer bag

although i'm not one for graphic tees, i fell in love with this 1984 men's shirt from marc jacobs (yes, that was the year i was born. hence my affinity for it.) it was snagged while i was really at the shop to get my new summer bag. if you know me, you know i'm not one to switch purses like some people do underwear. my faithfulness to the same bag can last me throughout an entire season. strange, i know. i'm just not a bag lady. so when i saw this gem, i knew i had to buy it and claim it summer 2014.

on a side note - yes i will eventually take off my faux-kentstocks. the daily mockery of my friends saying that's all i wear is beginning to sink in.

although i'm one that always opts for something more form-fitting and tailored, i've grown quite keen to this outfit. these jeans i've literally had since i was 17 years old and are what i refer to as my "ol' faithful." 

mixing in some fun kicks completes an otherwise simple outfit.

confession: crop tops are out of my comfort zone!

once i accepted my complete 'uncomfortableness' in such a hot trend right now, the more i was able to just go with the flow and not be so self conscious. after all, what you wear should always elevate your mood. i paired the top with my favorite jeans at the moment (hello black! hello high rise!) and some flats i bought in  a boutique during my san francisco trip last month. this is one black and white ensemble i'll be rocking more often.
