having grown up in miami and having lived in los angeles for almost a decade, the changing of seasons never really resonated with me. this is actually the first time in my entire life where i'm actually experiencing autumn. watching the colors change and having foliage be this perfect blend of gold, red and green is absolutely magical.

grey
there's nothing better than throwing on your favorite sweater and a pair of tights on a chilly afternoon, wouldn't you agree?
when i saw this grey little number from sheinside i was immediately drawn to how effortlessly chic it was. swap the boots for heels, smack some red lips on, and you can have a night out in the town.

sequin holiday
photos by s.garrison
staying at the crawford hotel inside union station in denver was such an absolute treat (thanks brooke at fogg management!). already decorated for the holidays, it really started the season on the right foot for me. to my utter surprise, coming back to los angeles and its 77* weather left me wanting the cold and snow.
this sequin wool top by marc jacobs was just what the doctor ordered - keeping me warm and fashionable throughout my work trip. of course keeping the outfit black on black was the most conventional of choices in the cold. hoorah!
gave in
photos by s.garrison
this past weekend was spent in denver, colorado in literally 1* weather. allow me to put this in perspective: i shiver and complain when the air conditioner hits anything lower than 73* at work. you can imagine how my jaw dropped when i realized the temperature i was getting myself into. because of this severe fashion dilema, i gave in and bought uggs. yup, you heard right: idalia. in. uggs.
let me proclaim that i was in sheer heaven walking around with these bad boys. kept me warm. kept me comfortable.
le bob
this has to be one of my favorite outfits and shoots i’ve
done in while. the second that my friend/photographer jen told me to tuck my
hair in the jacket (only exposing my front layers), we both knew we were on to
something. snagging a pic of this and posting on my instagram fueled an entire
dialogue of whether or not I had chopped off my hair.
which led me to wonder... should i chop it off for real?

1984 / summer bag
although i'm not one for graphic tees, i fell in love with this 1984 men's shirt from marc jacobs (yes, that was the year i was born. hence my affinity for it.) it was snagged while i was really at the shop to get my new summer bag. if you know me, you know i'm not one to switch purses like some people do underwear. my faithfulness to the same bag can last me throughout an entire season. strange, i know. i'm just not a bag lady. so when i saw this gem, i knew i had to buy it and claim it summer 2014.
on a side note - yes i will eventually take off my faux-kentstocks. the daily mockery of my friends saying that's all i wear is beginning to sink in.

happy fourth
there is always something to be said about the fourth of july for me. the past few years it has been the hallmark of rather life changing events: 2012 my then boyfriend asked me to be his, 2013 i was in the dominican republic celebrating a childhood friend's wedding (and also secretly trying to manage my overwhelming anxiety over the person i was with at the time - insert pina colada emoji here), and alas 2014 has brought me a new job. i've been a firm believer that life has a brutally funny way of giving us what we need at the time we need it - even if said thing is gut wrenching and painful. but like rumi says, sometimes we need to crack in order to let the light in. and that's exactly how i'm feeling about my life right now... full of light. excitement and gratitude are at the top of the list every morning when i wake up.
so while i was on top of my neighbors roof, watching the fireworks solo (before going to my friend's house), i found myself with peaceful tears in my eyes thinking at the many accomplishments and hurdles overcome these past seven months. i kissed the sky, and thought: happy independence day indeed!

i'm so excited to have done these series of pictures of my apartment with the one and only nina duncan. although not originally planned, our saturday afternoon was well spent prancing around my humble abode snapping the moments. to me, my apartment has always been a sanctuary and place of rest and retreat. i hope you all enjoy me sharing this intimate space with you.
stay tuned for the up coming posts which will highlight each room with each outfit.

mother's day
i was beyond thrilled to have my mother fly in from miami to celebrate mother's day with my sister and myself yesterday. there's really nothing better than spending a gloriously sunny afternoon with the people that truly matter most in life - my family. hope you all enjoyed yours too.

living in style
last night i had the pleasure of attending rachel zoe's "living in style" book signing at marc jacobs in beverly hills. and whilest i was a bit of a ding-dong in forgetting my camera, thought these quick i-phone snaps would suffice. no?

this is the last of my miami posts - and i'd like to think i saved the best for last. my mom's condo right by the water has been such peaceful sanctuary for me. the view overlooking downtown on one side, and the ocean on the other, is absolutely breathtaking. snaps being taken on her balcony provided quite a lovely backdrop.
