last week i was able to join kristina bazan (the hostess with the mostess) in an intimate dinner with jewelry designer (and absolute sweetheart) eddie borgo who's collaborating with target with a brand-spankin' new line of bracelets, earrings, necklaces, pins, belts, wall art, and handbags that are all customizbale with a variety of charms, beads, and studs. on the rooftop terrace overlooking manhattan (can we just take in the view right now?! surreal!), we were given the 411 and were able to create such wonderful jewelry with eddie himself. you'll be sure to be seeing my creations on future posts.
how fun was this?!

after a long drought of not wearing heels, i've decided it's rightful time for me to suck it up and strap it on. the key is either upright comfort like this pair or a cab always readily available. in either case, my five foot two self is now ready to be closer to pedestrian height. whew.
keeping to my true monotone roots(and believe me i'm contemplating the risk of prints and colors), most of the time simplicity is key.
nudity is key.

nonstop street style

i get so heavily inspired by the street styles worn by models about town. it always serves as a platform for my future outfits and offers insight on what to wear when running around a city - let's face it, these girls are nonstop and fabulous.

nyc

last week i had the honor and pleasure of being in new york city for work. although i came back to los angeles rather exhausted (and grateful to be back home), the experience was absolutely wonderful and inspiring!
although i didn't bring a professional camera, these are my iphone snaps along the way (all on insta: @vicariousLAblog)

inspiration week: thursday

if you haven't noticed by now, i have a passion for travel. there is nothing more educational or inspirational to me than exploring different cultures and locations. here are my top 5 most inspirational places i've had the honor of visiting:

5. los angeles : yup. i live in a city that has always inspired me. from its snow-capped mountains to it's palm tree filled beaches, the city of angels has had a hold on my heart for a while now. even as a little kid visiting, i always knew i would eventually live here one day.

4. hawaii : in one word - paradise. it's so peaceful and lush. although i wasn't able to do half of the activities i would have like to have done while there, visiting oahu was a dream come true.

3. new york city : i know i know the picture is horrible but look at that big & fuzzy smile on my face! the first time i visited nyc, i was in highschool. my mom was on a business trip and i tallied along. my first experience was a solo one and i felt so powerful and independent. every time i go back i fall more and more in love with it.

2. oxford, england : you know the scene in mary poppins where she's wearing a white dress and everything around her is a cartoon? yup. that's what i felt like when i was in oxford. by far one of the most gorgeous, serene, and green places i've ever visited.

1. venice, italy : my oh my did this place take my breathe away. traveling via gondola around the city, i became more and more enchanted by the surroundings. i literally felt like i was instantly transported into a time filled with masquerades and balls.

*please note all pictures were taken by me (save the one of myself which was taken by a friend).

form and fancy

these are just a few of valentina battler's "form and fancy" drawings that are currently being exhibited in nyc until june 1st.
using both traditional and current chinese ink painting techniques, her drawings radiate a delicate and emotional element.
so gorgeous.
