one of my favorite parts about my neighborhood is actually a church garden down the block from me which houses the most beautiful flowers and greenery. i happily tend to find myself on weekend mornings grabbing coffee and a book and spending quite a bit of time relaxing there before my day actually starts. any bit of retreat in this big city is always welcomed.

disclaimer: i went a bit out of my comfort zone with this outfit. crazy to think, huh? the crop top. the high-waisted pants. the middle hair part. the choker. i felt like i was throwing every single fashion trend of the moment into one solitary look (very unlike me). what i found, however, was how much i absolutely loved everything about the configuration. it looks rather seamless and natural and somewhat brigitte-bardot sultry.

what is like music to my ears on a sunday morning, you may ask?
brunch!
and i'm definitely those that actually like doing it early so i can continue to peacefully enjoy the remainder of the day. after living in la for almost 9 years, i was baffled at the fact that i had never been to beachwood cafe. my experience was nothing less than wonderful - the food was delicious, the atmosphere chill, and the decor absolutely darling.

this has to be my new favorite go-to outfit when running around town to do errands (ie: the check out line at target must think i only have these sole articles of clothing). how could i resist though... it's so effortless and on point with the summer trends.

it dawned on me the other day that although i can practically say i live in these pants, i never once have shot in them for the blog. voila! here they are. i found them in the deep trenches of primark when i was in london this summer and have been ever so obsessed with them ever since. paired with another fabulous london brand, my paul's boutique bag has been a savior ever since i got it. these two paired together are so ideal.

wellies time!

i woke up this morning to (wait for it... wait for it...) rain! that's right, with a big smile on my face i put on my wellies (this is a once-in-lifetime opportunity in los angeles), grabbed my umbrella and took my dog out for a proper walk. being from miami where it nearly rains everyday, i genuinely miss the drops falling from the sky.

nature inspired

i cannot thank tammie jane enough for the stellar shoot we did together!

the theme for this outfit was very boho and nature inspired (if ya couldn't tell). shooting at the old los angeles zoo on a beautiful and sunny sunday afternoon really worked like a charm.

so what in blue blazes am i actually wearing? the shirt i bought off my neighbor at a yard sale for $5; the skirt is from urban outfitters; the belt is actually an old old forever 21 necklace; bracelets are a mixed between tribal, a diamond bracelet and a red good luck charm string; the diamond ring is from the late 1970's that my mom gave me. crazy, huh?

olympic gear

i'm so excited for the olympics this year! and just having arrived back from london, i look forward to the backdrop of all the games.
the office had a fire drill this morning which forced us to evacuate the building giving me time to take some snapshots of my team gb outfit (not to worry my dear americans, i'm still team u.s.a. at heart).

plagues and pleasures of the salton sea

the breakdown on the salton sea : holy lord does it smell foul and look like a nuclear bomb hit bringing all the dead fish out to shore. 
the sea was created by a flood in 1905, in which water from the colorado river flowed into the area. since then, the level of saline has risen so high that it cannot support many aquatic life - the result being sand made up of dead fish scales and a shore completely covered by death. 
one would think that in the middle of the desert, this oasis would provide an ideal tourist spot. and yet it's "one of the country's worst ecological disasters"...

scolding tracks
